PDF Scale Measurement Made Easy
Don't guess measurements. Use our browser-based ruler to get accurate distance values from any scaled valid PDF document.

What is PDF Scale Measurement?
Scale measurement allows you to translate a small distance on a page (e.g., 1 cm) into a real-world distance (e.g., 1 meter). This is crucial for maps, floor plans, and engineering drawings.
PDF Ruler simplifies this by providing an overlay that sits on top of your document, allowing you to draw lines and see their length relative to the page size.
How Calibration Works
Currently, our tool uses A4 Auto-Calibration. We detect the dimensions of the PDF page and map them to standard ISO 216 sizes (210mm x 297mm). This essentially sets the scale factor automatically for standard documents.
- Standard Documents: Works out of the box.
- Scaled Maps: Use the displayed value and apply your map's scale factor (e.g., multiply by 1000 for 1:1000 maps).
FAQ
Can I set a custom scale?
Not yet, but we are developing a "Calibrate" feature where you can measure a known distance (like a scale bar) to set the ratio yourself.
